The mantra of repair, reuse and recycle — like many laws of physics and maths theorems — was known to Indians long before the west but was never really claimed or communicated as such, only to come back to us now from foreign lands as newly discovered life skills. Today parents and grandparents who want to ‘save’ worn out stuff for some future use are thought of as magpies, hoarders and ‘clutterers’.
