VP Polls Not End of Road: Trinamool

Trinamool general secretary Abhishek Banerjee said that his party 'felt let down by the haste and harakiri' with which vice-presidential candidate Margaret Alva was selected. However, the Opposition's efforts to find an acceptable candidate for the presidential poll had faltered too, although there was no 'haste'. Yashwant Sinha was the fourth candidate, selected with only two days left, but did not bring about larger Opposition unity, with the Trinamool challenging the Congress dominance and the former not in a position to assert itself as it once did.
