Sensex tops 53K, Nifty above 15,950; Asian Paints rises 2%

The S&P BSE Sensex index rose as much as 213 points to touch 53,163.91 in the first few minutes of trade, and the broader NSE Nifty50 benchmark climbed to as high as 15,951.60, up 66 points from its previous close.
