Chip shortage: August auto output loss pegged at $500 million

The cumulative impact of the semiconductor shortage in all of August is likely to be to the tune of 50,000 units or 20-25% of monthly output, translating into a turnover loss of about $500 million. Lower production will mean wholesale despatches for August will likely fall to 250,000-260,000 units from 295,000 in July.
