  1. Court grants relief to Unilever’s India unit
    An Indian court on 6th July directed Emami Ltd. to give a seven day notice to Hindustan Unilever Ltd. before initiating legal proceedings over the ‘Glow & Handsome’ trademark. Emami has first applied for the trademarks ‘Glow & Handsome’ and ‘Glow & Lovely’ back in September 2018, but the application for the same was rejected in 2019. The company however re-applied in June 2020. The court has set 27 July as the next hearing date.

  2. upGrad looks to close FY’21 with INR 1200 crore run rate
    Higher education is the fastest growing in the edtech sector. upGrad is an edtech major in the country and has brought on-board more than 100 colleges and universities on their platform. Some of the strategic initiatives from the company are:
    1. Launching 35 new diverse online programs that the company plans to launch in the next few months
    2. Their 90 online programs will now have a monthly starting date vs the quarterly starting date which was followed till now. This is to accommodate the growing demand
    3. Through blended online degree programs, they have become the first in India to enable degree with universities
    4. The company will target 40 million South Asian population worldwide to increase their global footprint

      upGrad’s Gross Student Revenue will grow to INR 100 crore/month by September 2020 increasing from INR 50 crore/month. This will then close at INR 200 crore/month by March ‘21 which will help the company cross the INR 1200 crore annual run rate by the end of the fiscal year

  1. Yamaha special finance scheme for frontline Covid-19 warriors
    Yamaha has announced a special scheme for the Covid-19 frontline warriors which will help reduce the EMI for the first 3 months by 50%. This has been done to provide an attractive and exclusive finance scheme to make it more convenient for the frontline warriors to purchase their products
