In Porbandar, BJP eyes hattrick, Congress pins hopes on anti-incumbency

Porbandar seat is a big-ticket contest as it was a seat Congress lost in 2017 with the lowest margin of 1,800 in the Saurashtra region. Former Congress state unit president Arjun Modhwadia is pitted against incumbent BJP MLA Babubhai Bokhiria. Modhwadia had won the seat in 2002 and 2007 while Babubhai had defeated him in 2012 and 2017. This time the stakes are high for Babubhai who is on the cusp of breaking a record - no MLA has been elected a third time from the same constituency in Gujarat.
