7 Punjab districts seeing higher fire count than '21

Even as Delhi enters the 'severe' air quality stage amid raging stubble fires in Punjab, the state government told the Centre on Thursday that it is working on reducing the total stubble burning cases by nearly 50% this year -- down to the 35,000-45,000 range against the 71,304 fire counts recorded in 2021.
