Indices report biggest single-day gain in a month

The Sensex ended 776.5 points or 1.35% up at 58,461.29 and the Nifty ended 234.75 points or 1.37% up at 17,401.65. HDFC contributed the most to the index gains, rising nearly 4%. Power Grid Corp. of India, Tata Steel, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Tech Mahindra and HCL Technologies gained 2.5-3.7%.
